Everything currently known: the delivery timeline, US specs and pricing as a reference point, and what's still unconfirmed for Canada.
Rivian opens Canadian reservations ($150 CAD deposit) with a first-half-2026 delivery target and a published starting price.
Rivian enters saleable production on R2 Performance, the trim that will lead the US launch. Canadian timeline still shows 2026 through this period.
Rivian quietly updates the Canadian R2 page: delivery window moves from 2026 to 2027, and the C$66,500 figure is removed with no replacement. The company cites focus on the US launch; independent reporting also points to new Canadian counter-tariffs on US-built vehicles as a factor, since the R2 is assembled in Illinois.
Performance ($57,990 USD, spring 2026), Premium ($53,990 USD, late 2026) and Standard ($48,490–45,000 USD, 2027) trims are priced for US buyers. Canada is not included in this reveal.
Rivian confirms R2 Performance has entered saleable production, matching the Tesla Model Y Performance on energy consumption while offering more range.
Canadian reservation holders are told to expect order invites in the first half of 2027, ahead of deliveries. Canadian pricing remains unannounced.
Rivian's Canadian site (rivian.com/en-CA/r2) now lists all three trims with Canadian range and performance figures — but still no price. US pricing is shown alongside for reference only; it hasn't been confirmed for the Canadian market.
| Trim | Canadian availability | Range (Canadian site) | Horsepower | US price (reference only) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Performance | Coming 2027 | 531 km | 656 hp | $57,990 USD |
| Premium | Coming 2027 | 531 km | 450 hp | $53,990 USD |
| Standard | Coming 2027 | 442 km | 350 hp | $45,000–48,490 USD |
Note: the Canadian site lists Standard as a single trim with RWD and Long Range as configuration options, rather than as two separately priced tiers like the US site.
Rivian has said it plans to grow its global service footprint past 150 locations by the end of 2027, adding 50+ centres and expanding its mobile-service fleet by 50% through 2026 — mobile service is already the most-used repair path in lower-density regions, which covers most of Canada outside these four metros. The Rivian Adventure Network, the company's DC fast-charging system, was nearing 1,000 stalls across North America as of Q1 2026, though the buildout so far has concentrated in the US.
